For the release for the 1.25.0 version, we intend to introduce numerous modifications to the Osamodas class. We don't intend to make Osas much better at PVP in "one on one" mode. Summons will be less obsolete at higher levels, but above all it's an Osa's usefulness in groups that we want to improve. Making Osamodas more Versatile: We're well aware of the problems faced by Osas who wish to have a useful role at the heart of a team. As a result, we've decided to improve the support capabilities of this class by allowing Osas to cast their support spells on their allies as well as their summons. In concrete terms, each support spell (Animal Healing, Bear's Cry, Toad etc.) will be able to be used however you want, on a summon, or an ally. It goes without saying that the effects on allies will be less powerful than on summons. We want for Osas to be able to continue to use their summons in a group, which is why we're looking for a good balance between the benefits brought by using the support spells on summons or on allies. In addition, for a long time, a secondary healing class has been missing from Dofus. With the exception of enirpsas, none of the other classes are effective at healing their allies (apart from those classes who sacrifice close combat by using healing weapons) With this change, Osas will be able to effectively play the role of secondary healer, while keeping a great versatility. Osas' support spells will be less effective on their allies than the support spells of other classes. However, Osas will be the only class to have such a varied range of support spells at their disposal. Characteristics of Summons: We also wanted to review the role of each summon so that they all keep their interest over the course of an Osa's evolution. As a result, each summon will have a major elemental resistance and weakness. We are changing the Bwork Mage so that it is no longer in conflict with the Boar summon. The Bwork Mage will only push its enemies one square but will now also reduce the MP of its target by 1. The Tofu is generally considered a "temporary" creature that can only survive for a couple of turns at best. We want to encourage players to protect this fragile creature. The Tofu will therefore have the possibility of stealing a few points of agility from its adversary with each attack. The longer it stays in play, the better its damage will be over the next turns and the more agility it will take from its enemies. At a high level, the Gobball quickly becomes obsolete, and the role of tank or locker is given to the Crackler. We want for these two summons to complement each other. The Crackler will keep its AP reducing capabilities, its large vitality and its resistances, but it will lose some of its locking ability. The Gobball will be able to play the role of “locker" thanks to a considerably increased agility. Level 6 Summons: All the classes will have at their disposal level 6 summons. The level 6 summons will have more vitality, better resistance and cause better damage. These level 6 summons will counter the obsolete nature of some summons at high levels. Modifications to the Evolutions of Summons: Currently, each summon gains 1% damage and additional heals for each level of the caster. We're changing this so that summons gain 1% of their base stats for each level of the caster. In concrete terms, the evolution of the damage of each summon will stay the same, but the increase in their base characteristics will allow them to better lock their adversaries, to better avoid AP/MP loss and to better reduce the AP/MP of their enemies. This change to the evolution of summons will also render higher-levelled summons less obsolete. We've chosen a linear evolution as the appearance of level 6 summons will compensate for the non-linear evolution of the power of higher-levelled adversaries. We've also decided to review the distribution of the base stats of summons to ensure a better coherence with the change to the evolution of summons. As a result, the Intelligence of Osa's summons has been standardised, and the Toad spell changed so that each summon can benefit from the same level of protection when the spell is used. Changes to Osamodas spells: Some of the Osamodas' support spells will be reviewed, giving a better bonus to vitality, or giving greater damage. The standardisation of the majority of the base stats of summons will allow us to have damage bonuses that have the same effect whatever the targeted Osa's summon. Osamodas Special Class Spell: The Osa special class spell will be called "Spiritual Leash". It's a resurrection spell which only works on allies (and not on summons). For a significant AP cost, it will allow the Osa to resurrect a dead ally. This spell is only usable once per battle. The revived character will come back to life with a very small percentage of its HP, which makes it particularly vulnerable. As well, if the Osa dies, the revived character dies as well (as happens currently with summons. It's a very powerful spell that gives the Osa class a unique talent. In the future, it could be that certain monsters will be able to take advantage of this new talent as well. The AI of Creatures: With these changes, we're not planning to review the Artificial Intelligence (AI) of summons and other creatures in the game in general. The changes to AI and its improvements are more complex technically, and we prefer to keep them separate from the changes to the game's design and balancing. For AI, we eventually plan to separate the behaviour of monsters and the behaviour of summons. We hope to put in place simpler, more predictable behaviours for summons. For example, we'd like a summon that doesn't have a "fearful" nature to consistently attempt to attack its adversary without attempting to dodge it. This more simple behaviour will better allow the summoner to control which targets his summons attack. A person specialising in AI is joining our development team in a few days, the game design team will work with them to work out which are the generic behaviours that we need to review, and what bugs there are with the current AI that need fixing. We'll correct certain malfunctions with the existing AI over the months to come, but no major overhaul is expected until the start of 2009. The changes to Osas will be tested on test servers in the weeks to come. We'll keep you informed when the test server will be available.
Thanks to Jiri for the translation
Aren't Osamodasses becoming slightly too strong with this new update? I guess we should just wait and see how it goes, but the new features altogether seem a bit overpowered to me.
By: BlueLily - (2008-08-22 21:00:51)
So this means that dofus 2.0 will come next year? early to mid 2009?
By: Raphael-Raven - (2008-08-22 21:24:20)
Are Osa not good as they are? I play a sram...and many of my features goes stolen from update to update... how about more power to sram?
By: Wizzle - (2008-08-22 23:56:48)
i just want to sey i like the fact that osas will be able to help players. But i think all you realy need to chage on them is crow, its altogether a useless and pointless move i can see it being good if it took 2 ap at lev 5,and meybey tofu should be a suaside attacker kind of like the sadi.other then that i love the summoners the olny char i ever play with just a little out matched by other classes farely easy.just change a few things about them not every thing.and thank you guys for a great game experiance.
By: fleshnbone - (2008-08-23 01:22:41)
I just have to say, this update looks fantastic. As an Osamodas, I have been really annoyed because my groups have been calling me useless due to my Tofu and Gobball flooding have been not too helpful, but now, being an Osamodas will be something to be proud of! Long Live Osamodas! A little suggestion though, I think 'Crow' needs to be changed. It's severely pointless. I think it should be replaced with a summon that heals the caster, if only by a little. Also, would the Osamodas be able to cast spells on themselves and, would 'Animal Healing' work on allies, because it IS 'Animal Healing'.
By: Moss-Bell - (2008-08-23 04:26:11)
Like Moss-Bell i totally agree Osamodas will now be a way better and more exiting character to play. I think crow is a "okay" spell cause you cane use it throw objects and when you get a higher lvl (than i am right now) it cane accely hit pretty hard And i also have the HUGE question: Cane they use the spells on them self ??? (like Fangs Of Boowolf)
By: ZzzzzChRiSzzzzZ - (2008-08-23 09:10:56)
Just one thing to make sure... Since this is an update right?, so does my current Osamodas get the new update (like a patch) when the 1.25 comes, or is it, when it comes, I have to start a new Osamodas to have the new updates on my character. I am looking forward to some more Dofus events that introduces new character. Like they did with the Pandawa Class.
By: Liungra - (2008-08-23 13:37:21)
I wonder why they revice the osarace... The only hindrance I find as being an osa is that other people don't like summons. They say it reduces their gametime (don't they know that summons shorten a fight=more fights=equal amount of gametime?). I'm tired of hearing "no summons pls!" why do they invite an osa in their team in the first place? A piece of advice to other osa's, find yourself a nice guild where they allow summons and you'll find that playing an osa can be VERY rewarding. besides this; There will always be a race better than the other at any given level, at any given opponent. this is also for the osa. ea. I find a well build "tofuspammer" (I so hate this tag) at lvl
By: Mattijs - (2008-08-23 14:26:03)
ea. I find a well build "tofuspammer" (I so hate this tag) at lvl >30 can do more damage than any other race at the same lvl. A good tank (goball, crack,...) can win the crowosa enough time to overcome a single stronger opponent, at later stage POC is a superb aoespell at any mob (especially when the ose is protted by a feca.) I think the osarace is wellbalanced like any other race. a buffing osa can be nice but is not his trade... (sorry about the long comment, perhaps I'd better put this on forum instead :/)
By: lieveke - (2008-08-23 14:32:08)
Resurrect going to the osa? It should definitely be an eni spell. Since when, in the history of fantasy, does the resurrect spell not go to the priest-like class... and now osa's can give ap & heal with their spells too? Seems more like a slap in the face to enis than a balancing of osas.
By: Apris - (2008-08-23 16:48:19)
apris saying true i aggre with him and come on men osas gonna be the most powerfull one i think its should be %50 %50 no powerfull one...
By: jheregvlad - (2008-08-23 22:47:55)
I like the idea of updating the osa and all.... Buuuut, why update to 1.25 instead of the 'supposedly' grand 2.0? Unless I missed something, then feel free to correct me.
By: Taisiya - (2008-08-24 03:52:14)
As a Tofu Spamming Osa, I like the idea of Tofus being made more powerful. By the way, Apris, Enis are not priests, but fairies (I have nothing against them, but the correction needs to be made) note the wings. People get mad at me because my Tofus are so strong! However, "summoning" people back to life might make them a lot happier. On the other hand, what does it mean, Tofus take agility and become stronger as the fights go on? And that summon buffs will be weaker when cast on players? Please explain these things... They affect us, we ought to know! ~Tofu-Spamming-Osa
By: Beq-EA-PM - (2008-08-25 14:00:25)
jheregvlad, I disagree because atm osas are the less powerfull class in game, especially in pvp mode .. people always says:"but you has summons.." .. yeah its true but wyrmi/crack/magus can be easy killed by a discrete iop in one shot, slowed down by a good xelor and so on.. once you kill summons, osas has no defence since the spell ghostly claw at lvl 6 is not so powerfull like other class spell and punch of the crackler spell required the caster to be near the target.. at the end I say that this upgrade isn't so bad at first sight
By: Castigo - (2008-08-25 15:45:55)
I agree with Castigo ;)
By: devidramon - (2008-08-25 17:20:43)
In second place I totally agree with Beq-EA-PM, let me explain.. Apris reminded the "History of fantasy" but as he should know, the ability of resurrecting belongs to necromancer and druid (people with special spells that summon/recall dead and living creatures respectively) and not to fairies which, according to mythology, their purpose is protect persons from evil. In fact, in Dofus Enis which resemble fairies protect persons from death restoring their HPs and osamodas which resemble necromacer and druid summon/recall animals and other pgs. With this update osamodas do and will do exactly those things.
By: Castigo - (2008-08-25 17:21:52)
I agree with Castigo too
By: Snoowman - (2008-08-26 11:39:51)
i really dont think this is fair. The new class spell is way to powerful, compare it to brockle and felin. i know ur trying to make osa more wanted but ur unbalancing the stregh of caracters. Every class has its strghs and weakness as far as i can tell there is no long a weakness with osa, they can heal ,summon, steal ap(crackler) range attck(crow and ghosltly claw), rape agi (tafu) , lock (gobble-crack) , unbitwch (dragon). THEY HAVE NO WEAKNESS. Sure they cant beat every class but after this they just might be able to. Some people would say the summons would get killed first round that doesnt make a difference cause u can summon again. A crackler takes 2 turns 2 kill (lvl 148iop) cause of the ap rape at that time the osa can summon dragon and perspic. Someone else said that 'people always say'but you has summon'' then there immuture noobs. its like saying because u had traps and invisiblity u won or because u used bramble. i know anamka is trying to get osa to more dung runs and hunts but this also affects pvp. Sure people dont say 'we need a osa' but they never say 'we need a iop' or 'a eca would be nice'. i believe in epic lvls 150+ cra's are the weakest class not osa
By: promage - (2008-08-26 18:19:22)
What abou Fecas? The ones who are complaining abou dying to all the classes certainly never faced one... Feca's should realy have a balancing, because they die to Enutrofs,Sadidas,Iops,Osamodas,Enis... And Ankama just made that easier to Osas... And Castigo,Necros DON'T ressurect people, they turn then in undeads, and most of the time, their slaves. Druids too, don't ressurect people. The one's the do that are priests, who ressurect people with the power of their gods. It didn't make sense for me imagine Osamodas (a DEMON) concerned about peoples lives and wealth, for me,it's more Eniripsa's or even Feca's concerning... . Anyway, this is bullshit,Osas get overpowered, and the ones dening that are certainly Osas wich are by now very happy with the news, anxyous to beat every living thing in game...
By: Sharparrow - (2008-08-26 20:49:00)
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too powerful...OMG! was the first thing that i said when i read all that stuff about osamodas ruling over everyone and everything...I really think it's way too powerful, and that you atleast would drop the thing with leting them heal people from death, and give it to the aspirine, instead of leting them RULE every group in the game... I have an osa myself, but i think that i would rather quit the playing now, than before that update...I shure will have some fun, but it will be too easy...Therefor, if that update is too powerful for me, i'll make an eni instead..
By: sokota-e-kul- - (2008-08-26 20:49:01)
RE Beq: Notice I said priest-like, not priest. It's hard to argue that enis are priest-like in their abilities. RE Castigo: Osas don't resemble necromancers or druids, they are summoners. That's a pretty established class in and of itself. And summoners don't have resurrect. I really don't see how you can argue that the healing/support class shouldn't have resurrect. And, btw, where's the eni special spell? Howsabout a +mp spell? Basically every other class has a +mp effect except enis... and they have wings! Tell me how it makes sense that Xelors have flight. Alas, I digress.
By: Apris - (2008-08-26 22:46:53)
RE Apris: I think you have to read with much attention what devs wrote about osa's resurrection "As well, if the Osa dies, the revived character dies as well (as happens currently with summons." they are summon nothing less, mothing more so this ability should belong to osa not enis. RE Sharparrow: I said resemble necro or druid because the creatures of an osa are slave, like you correctly said before. It is not important if they are living or dead RE promage: you said "Some people would say the summons would get killed first round that doesnt make a difference cause u can summon again".. false because CD is high and osas have a limited number of summons The only thing I give you right is the ability of restoring HPs on allies which doesn't make sense on osamodas (always according to mythology) but not for the other things mentioned [resurrection (or recall) call it as you like, summon's ability boost up]
By: Castigo - (2008-08-27 11:49:55)
after carefull consideration.this update seems pointless.osa will still stink.our summons arnt good enought to eaven do anything by the time you actualy get a chance to buff ts to late your dead.osa take time to do any damage is what im seying there the worst players for 1 on 1.and even at lev 100 there pretty pointless class since the AI for summons sux.i understand there alot you have been thinking about.but we need stronger summons and we at least need to get cheaper buff that cost less AP.like i sed it no point to buff a gob or boar cuz it will die in one hit anyways then your next no matter what osa suck and im mad at the fact our attacks are so usless.if you can plz up the hp of cracks and gobs.and meybey give less AP to out spells so we can do alittle more.i know you might think its unfair but that what every one sey.heres an idea why dont you start playing with osa youe self and see if you like them, there olny good to fight low levs.as im lev 45 still i still get owned by lev 25 and 30s whens that gunna end.again our attacks blow just like our summons.buff or no buff it the same game osa suck.but i love them.lol
By: fleshnbone - (2008-08-28 03:27:11)
I totally agree with fleshnbones comments above...
By: connernashlee - (2008-08-28 03:58:04)
So can we use spells on ourselves or not cuz if we could that would make osas awesome couse my char dies when my summons are still alive. So it would be alot better. Plz Reply.
By: kingkez - (2008-08-30 00:28:32)
I think its already a bad idea, no-one (even enimies) suffer a "Summoning Sickness" when any summon is brought in play... since summoning usually requires a great deal of spiritual energy, the summon must wait a single turn before being allowed to attack. I played many games with summons, an this is 1 of the main general rules to summons...
By: Aussie-Kangaroo - (2008-08-30 01:07:01)
Why r u complayning its just making osas buff other players and making u stronger
By: kingkez - (2008-08-31 14:37:17)
So what will happen with existing osamodas if this update passes through? Do they get a free spells/stats reset?
By: gumbotron - (2008-08-31 21:45:12)
Few things, one I agree with Moss and Castigo completely, this is a wonderful update and also I have noticed the ones that are complaining (In my opinion) DO NOT play an Osa, therefore they do not know how underpowered we are. Me being an Osa level 38 fighting with another 38 class, I am the "Useless" one due to the fact that even with my summons out and buffed I can only do about a max 60 damage -70 meanwhile my team mates are doing in the 100's and sometimes even 200's! I do not see how this is fair at all so most of the times I just sit there doing nothing while my team mates finish the fight for me. I think this update will increase my ability to help out in a fight and would make an attempt at balancing out the Osa class. To the Feca's that are complaining, stay out of PvP, personally I have only ever PvP'ed once for alignment and a few times for fun, all times that I have fought a Feca my level, I have been completely dominated. You should be happy with the shields seeing as I usually don't do any damage to a Feca and get killed by Cloudy attack. To all the other people that are complaining, please first off learn to spell properly, reading your comments was hell and half of the comment I didn't understand. Secondly you should be happy about this, it's not like you PvP 24/7 and will be killed (If even possible) by an Osa after this update, and we will be so much more useful in dungeon runs and fighting mobs and such. Currently I find myself becoming more and more useless, although I am a die hard summon fan in every game so I will stay true to my favorite class =]. Hopefully I will get better at higher levels. P.S. About the whole necromancer thing, due to Diablo series the whole necromancer class is flawed in everyone's mind, the things a necromancer raises DO NOT just have to be skeletons, zombies, demons etc. They can have flesh you know =/
By: Jakthar - (2008-09-02 07:17:31)
But even at test server i am on there the resurrect spell is pretty good but like prespic lvl 5 gor nerfed now sucks 1-2 ap and bef was 2-3 ap... The craq same with ap now sucks only 1 ap The buff some of em still need some duration cuz is like Ex> feline movement on allies lvl 5 +1 mp for 1 turn.......
By: tenkey - (2008-09-04 13:05:30)
Well... I like eni and in this version the ankama will put the spell to ressurect the players to osa? Sorry, but i don't like this, who needs to ressurects is the enis because is a healer is to help and osa is summons don't need ressurects nothing because he have summons to help the team but the suggestion of standard the summons AI and the spells. I agree. If u put the spell in osa, u need put more spells to classes to make one per one special, like enis... enis don't have range for attack and the wand specialization is hard to play and have a low hit, my suggestion is to Ankama give the spell to enis, increase the range of the spells, spells with increase of healing 20% +- and others things. Is my suggestion, please if u see and agree with my suggestion, say to Ankama my suggestion. Marcus, Thanks.
By: MarquinhosCarioquinhaxD - (2008-09-10 20:15:33)
I think the point that many of you have been missing is the fact that the developers are looking to create a SECOND healer class. Also note that although the Osa would be able to heal, it's healing abilities would be far inferior to those of the Eni. In response to all the talk of how an Osa will "Dominate" all other classes, go read the part where most of the Osa upgrades will be in YOUR favor, not their own. They did NOT say that Osa's would be able to cast these spells on themselves, only OTHERS. What Attacker wouldn't love to have a little extra punch from Bear Cry? What defender wouldn't love to have a little extra defence from Toad? Which one of you when you are near death wouldn't like a "pickmeup" from Animal Healing? Name one, just one of you who hasn't wished they could move just one more space when things get dicey? The point of this upgrade is to make Osa more helpful... TO EVERY ONE!
By: Boaslad - (2008-09-18 03:07:16)
i love the idea!!! because am master-extrem!!!
By: neonmax - (2008-12-16 10:41:59)
i disagree castigo osamodas are one of the strongest class and no iops cant deafeat a summon with one hit remember osa has spells like toad and natural defense and with even ther summon being deafeted remeber u never boe wat they have in close combat =p i fougth a eca he thougth i was useless without my summon then i beat him with no summon with close combat and xelorz could slow them down but there summon like red dragon could lift anyeffects off a lvl 150 osa actually deafetead a lvl 200 iop soo make sure what u talking about
By: crystalblood - (2009-05-25 17:15:07)
I believe Boaslad has hit the nail on the head here. A year ago (when I last played :P), Osas were reckoned to be comparatively weak with the other classes, about par with the Cras. Now that they're buffed, everyone's complaining that they're too strong >.< The summons of an Osamodas can easily be killed - For those of you protesting about the effects of Toad, Toad requires AP to be used. Generally, Osamodas are unable to use both in the same turn, thus their opponent would easily be able to eliminate the summon. Plus anyway, regarding Spiritual Leash - Just get a Cra and that would nullify its effects >.< Or just kill the Osamodas.
